The Outer Worlds 2 could be set to have its highly anticipated release date revealed this weekend, with insiders also finding out about some special pre-order bonuses.

Microsoft’s annual Xbox Games Showcase is set to take place this Sunday, 8th June, with a special livestream dedicated entirely to The Outer Worlds 2. The Space Opera RPG, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, will look to capitalize on the unique world-building and humor that made the first game such a success.

Get ready for an action-packed adventure in a new colony with an even newer crew and the newest graphics! Coming in 2025.

A report from Deallabs revealed that pre-orders for the game will be available immediately following the stream, which would suggest that the release date will also be part of the presentation.

Furthermore, the report suggests that players will be able to pre-order immediately following the stream, with doubts still remaining about whether the game will be shadow-dropped and available to play instantly.

What Else Is Known About The Outer Worlds 2?

First announced back in 2021, The Outer Worlds 2 has caught the attention of many sci-fi RPG fans, particularly given the comparisons to Starfield and overall hunger for such games to be a success.

According to the report, Deallabs were also able to identify a DLC pack as part of their investigations, and found it to be called the Commander Zane Battle Pack. The pack included the following items:

Zane’s Uniform Armor
Ed’s Pet Drone
Zane’s Pistol and Dagger

Just who the mysterious “Commander Zane” could be remains uncertain, and whether or not these items will be applied to a companion or to the player-protagonist themselves also remains to be seen. Either way, a pet drone, armor, and weapons all sound like good things to have on your side.

More information is likely to be revealed in the special Xbox livestream, which promises to provide much more significant detail about the game, including locations, characters and gameplay. Fans have inevitably compared the series to beloved titles like Fallout: New Vegas in the past, which really puts the pressure on Obsidian to deliver a stellar sequel and live up to expectations.
