I love the raw spectacle of powerful foes clashing head-to-head, but it’s the eerie, overwhelming presence of a single adversary that truly captivates me. That sense of menace draws me in, sparking constant comparisons: How does this threat stack up against those from the past?

Solo Leveling exemplifies this dynamic perfectly. From Jinwoo’s battles with evolving denizens of chaos, we see a clear escalation of power and threat. So, I’ve put together a list of the most formidable Magical Beasts in Solo Leveling history, pitting them against each other to finally settle who reigns supreme.

8

Vulcan

Ruler of the Lower Floors

A menace in his own right, Vulcan is the only monster on this list who, despite being morbidly obese, specializes in outspeeding his foes. Hence, his attack patterns and busted abilities know no equal even among Noble Elites.

As an entity known for its greed and power, Vulcan not only lands but also takes several blows from a rapidly evolving Jinwoo. And is even able to buff himself by an overall of 50% without any specified time limit. Making the sheer intensity of his attacks test not just the strength of our protagonist but also his adaptability and strategic gambits to their fullest.

7

Earth Golem

Boss of an A-rank Gate

Estimated to be the size of a small building, the Earth Golem was far stronger than both Metus and Vulcan, as per Jinwoo’s presumption. And although none of us got to see the Beast in action, an assessment from an S-rank hunter is good enough to justify his standing among the strongest.

However, judging by the Boss’s unique physique and considerable number of hands, it can still be presumed that the Giant may’ve been incredibly versatile in combat. Though, with reference to the battle against the Hunters Guild, the Beast still wasn’t strong enough to contend against two S-rank Hunters. And was considerably weaker than a Jinwoo, who had already cleared some of the highest-ranking floors at that point.

6

Groctar

Leader of The Orcs

Known as the Orc Warlord, Groctar can hold his own against not one but three High Orc shadows; a feat no other Orc could match even while bearing an edge in numbers. But what truly sets him apart from his lackeys is a sharp and tactical mindset, one unbecoming of what you’d expect from a Beast.

Groctar can accurately gauge both his strength and that of his enemies on sight. This sharp insight enables him to grasp the unmatchable threat posed by Jinwoo, as the tribal Orc is forced to issue commands of retreat upon sensing Jinwoo’s impending arrival. This act of self-preservation for his tribe’s survival cements Groctar as more than a typical enemy, and more of a responsibility-driven Beast.

While Jin Woo has been collecting shadows like they’re Pokemons, there’s still a surprising level of hierarchy among the shadows.

5

Karglagan

Leader of The High Orcs

As the Boss of a top-tier A-rank Gate, Karglagan’s strength rivals the power of an S-rank Beast. And once that strength is combined with his aptitude for magic, not even Chol Jong-In can extinguish his flames. Hence, Karglagan was easily able to overwhelm a squad full of top-tier A-rank hunters without even raising a finger.

Furthermore, as a High Orc Shaman, Karglagan also specializes in extremely powerful barrier techniques and Gravitational magic. The potency of his technique is so great that not even A-ranked Mages were able to dispel its effects.

4

Ant Queen

The Mother of All Ants

Known for her immense Mana, the Queen was the final boss of the S Rank Gate that spawned on Jeju Island. Her durability was so monumental that it took the combined effort of some of the strongest Korean hunters to take her down.

However, the Queen’s real strength was rooted in her ability to give birth in unfathomable proportions. Each of her children, including the Royal Guards, stood on even ground against some of Korea’s strongest hunters, except for the Ant King, who was in a league of his own.

3

Ant King

Hidden Boss of Jeju Island

As the strongest child of the Ant Queen, the Ant King dominated the battlefield during the 4th Jeju Island Raid. Not only did he slaughter 8 out of the 16 S-rank hunters that partook in this aggression, but also annihilated the man known as the greatest hunter in Japan.

Labeled to be even stronger than the Monarch of White flames, the Ant King is capable of gaining/mimicking the abilities of whoever he consumes. And even without exercising any of his skills, the King is easily the most powerful Beast to have ever surfaced in Korea.

2

Giant General

Puppet of Legia

Serving directly under the Monarch of Beginning, the Giant General belongs to the most rugged of ethnicities among the Denizens of Chaos. His supermassive size extends his range of attack to hundreds of meters, as evident from the battle against Sung Jin Woo.

And yet, even while carrying an enormous mass, his attack speed was substantial enough to momentarily overwhelm Jinwoo; a feat not even the Ant King was able to achieve in his lifetime.

1

Kamish

A Natural Disaster

Regarded as humanity’s greatest calamity, Kamish was the boss of the first S Rank Gate to have ever materialized. He possessed numerous abilities, through which he obliterated the west coast of America and massacred tens, if not hundreds, of S-rank hunters.

As a member of the Dragon race, Kamish’s strength scales way beyond any of the other Magical Beasts. After all, it took the combined effort of 5 of humanity’s strongest hunters to put an end to what may have brought the end of the human race.
