The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher program is drawing to a close, with Nintendo revealing the cut-off date for when they can be purchased and for when they can no longer be redeemed.

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers can be redeemed for some of the biggest titles on the eShop. The idea is that buying two Game Vouchers together is cheaper than buying them individually, allowing the customer to save one for later. This way, they can grab a game they want now and use the other for when another first-party hit comes out.

Now that the Nintendo Switch 2 is here, Nintendo is winding down the Game Vouchers program. The official Nintendo website has provided a timeline for when Game Vouchers will become defunct.

What’s Happening With Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers?

As of January 30, 2026, fans will no longer be able to purchase Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. Any Game Vouchers purchased before then will remain active for a year, allowing players to redeem them until January 30, 2027.

Surprisingly, Nintendo revealed that more titles will be added to the Game Vouchers program in the future. This might hint at a replacement for the program further down the line, though the company would likely have announced it by now if one was in the pipeline.

The Nintendo Switch 2 generation has seen many fan-favourite deals vanish, such as the Gold Points, which could be applied to the price of digital games. It wouldn’t sting so much if they were being replaced by something, but right now, the Switch 2 is just pruning stuff and leaving nothing in its place.

Fans have around six months to grab Game Vouchers and another year to use them. Fortunately, there are still some great titles coming down the pipeline, so it’s worth grabbing a set now, before they’re gone for good.
