After a somewhat underwhelming February trailer for Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team has made it up with a new, much more polished video.

For the most part, the new promotional material matches the original trailer from 2001. The script is almost the same, mimicking each shot as you get slowly sucked into the harrowing world of Silent Hill.

The new story trailer introduces new characters and hints at the spooky and unnerving atmosphere we’d expect from this everlasting horror masterpiece.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Looks The Part

Although the new Silent Hill 2 Remake story trailer tries to faithfully replicate the original content, it also adds a few new details. For example, we have the chance to see Marry and Eddie for the first time.

Eddie’s appearance, in particular, garnered a lot of attention on X, as seen below in this thread’s comments:

While the cinematic enhancements look incredible, the gameplay may be a cause for concern as, at a glance, it looks a little outdated and clunky. Then again, this might be the right thing for players looking for that retro feel.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Isn’t Afraid To Shake Things Up

The amazing graphics are the main difference between Silent Hill 2 Remake and the original. The new title relies on ray tracing and advanced soundscapes to make players shiver as they walk the town’s (somewhat) empty streets.

Another thing we applaud is the changes to the map. You now have access to buildings and locations that were previously locked or barred, prolonging the suffering.

Silent Hill 2 Studio Hopes Remake’s Release Stirs Interest In Upcoming IP

Bloober Team says “Silent Hill 2 opens our portfolio of big games,” including Projects C and M.

Furthermore, players see the action over James’ shoulder instead of the obsolete fixed camera, adding extra layers to the tension and immersion.

The combat system has also been updated to suit a new generation of players. You can now time dodges and change aim, drastically changing how fights feel.

The game will be available on October 8th this year for PS5 and PC (via Steam). The Dual Shockers team is excited about this remake and hopes that the Bloober team willaddress all the criticism ahead of time.
