More Lollipop Chainsaw Is On The Way

The time to lop off zombies has arrived, and this time, it could be happening on the big and small screen, as Lollipop Chainsaw is being adapted into a multimedia franchise, which hopefully also includes new games.

Lollipop Chainsaw is an action game from the PS3/Xbox 360 era. The game stars Juliet Starling, a cheerleader/undead hunter whose school is overrun with zombies. She has to take up her trusty chainsaw and go slashing through the undead horde, and defeat the supernatural beings who have caused the uprising.

Despite its incredibly bankable premise and highly promotable lead character, Lollipop Chainsaw was a one-off game for a long time. The success of the game’s remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw RePop, in 2024 has led to a full-on series revival, as announced by NADA Holdings on its official website. This means the series is coming back in a variety of media projects, not just games.

Lollipop Chainsaw Is Becoming A Full-Fledged Franchise

NADA Holdings is an investment firm that’s funding Lollipop Chainsaw’s growth, in collaboration with developer Dragami Games. The initial announcement didn’t specify that more games were on the way, but rather “projects.”

So, what could Lollipop Chainsaw become as a franchise? Naturally, the premise lends itself well for video games, and it’s shocking that it never received more sequels back in the day.

Where Lollipop Chainsaw could excel is in the entertainment industry. A live-action film feels a natural fit, more so than most video game adaptations, and probably wouldn’t be too expensive to make. Lollipop Chainsaw could also fit well as an animated franchise, similar to the shows Netflix is currently producing.

As this deal was only just announced, it likely will be years before fans see anything come to fruition, assuming these projects don’t just linger in development hell. Juliet Starling’s return in a new story is long overdue, and this collaboration will hopefully lead to big things further down the line.
