The spectacular performance of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is not enough to displace single-player RPG bestsellers.
Black Myth: Wukong secured the top spot for the genre with 2,415,714 in August 2024.
These numbers do not account for console players, which are always a considerable chunk of any RPG’s player base.
Helldivers 2 would eventually peak at 458,709, numbers which may be difficult for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to match unless a significant boom comes along.
However, it is a major victory given the timing of the release. Earlier this month, EA executives caused outrage after floating the idea that Dragon Age: The Veilguard might have done better if it was a live service game.
