Your goals will all be pretty straightforward to begin with. You’ll need to build a basic base, craft some simple weapons, and kill some nearby bandits and extract their blood as a source of water on this hostile desert planet.
However, you’ll eventually be asked to head to your first Trial of Aql, one of eight trials that you will need to complete over the course of the game.
It can feel like a daunting task, especially with the sun’s rays beating down on you, the vast portions of open sand to cross, and the bandits at every turn. However, we promise to make this as easy as possible for you.
First Trial of Aql Location
Unlike the other trials in the game, you’ll actually find that the first trial’s location is signposted for you. By using the sight, players will find that the location of the first trial is marked on their map.
The exact location of this trial is always the same, even if your starting position may vary, but it is always rather conveniently placed within a 2000-meter radius of your starting position and will always appear within the Hagga Basin. The exact location is Minha Cavern, as shown on the map above.
You will need to cross some open sand to get there, most likely, but as long as you move swiftly and from one rock formation to the next, you should avoid the Sandworm.
Once at the marker, head inside, and you’ll come to an altar with some spice that you’ll need to ingest, which will take you to the spice-infused dream sequence that makes up this trial.
How To Complete The First Trial of Aql
The First Trial of Aql is fairly straightforward and will require you to perform some basic stealth maneuvers to navigate from the start to the end of the course.
Along this path, you’ll encounter a series of large eyes that act as spotlights, and if you happen to be caught in the spotlight, you’ll fail that portion of the stealth challenge and be sent back to the start of that particular area.
Don’t panic too much about getting caught; you don’t lose any health, and there are no lasting repercussions of being spotted.
The first eye is very straightforward. Use the rock pillars in the middle of the room to navigate down the path on the right.
For the second eye, you’ll want to crouch down and hug the wall just below this spotlight. This eye never blinks, so crouching and getting tight to this wall is essential.
After this, you will find an eye that is looking down from above. The key here is to move forward when the eye looks to the left, get under the little shelter, and then, when the eye looks right, move on.
Then, for the final eye, you’ll need to time your movement well, hiding behind the pillars in the area, waiting for an opening. When the eye shuts, this will give you a small window to climb over the fallen pillars in your way, and then you’ll want to head along the path to the right of the eye, which will take you to the end of the stage.
There are no rewards for completing this trial, but this will allow you to progress onward with your introductory missions attached to A New Beginning.
