To help you narrow down your choices, I’ve drawn from my own personal gaming journey to give you a breakdown of the top 10 best four-player co-op RPGs you definitely must play.
While compiling this list, my focus was to highlight games that have the highest probability of giving your squad unforgettable moments. In order to do this, I chose games with unique character classes/roles, immersive worlds, and tons of replayability. These are the games that I’ve personally had the best co-op experiences with, and I hope you’ll enjoy them too!

Diablo 4
The Return Of Lilith
Diablo 4 is a great game to tackle with friends because of its immersive open world, an intuitive skill tree that allows for full character customization, and lots of end-game content.
You and your friends can choose between five characters: Necromancer, Druid, Barbarian, Sorcerer, and Rogue, and if you get the Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Expansion, the Spiritborn class will be available as well.
What I love most about Diablo 4 is experimenting with the skill tree and creating characters that have unique kits and are fun to play. On my first playthrough, I made a druid and initially used primarily shapeshifting skills, but soon found I preferred using storm and earth magic.
Being able to build your characters in various ways not only gives D4 a ton of replayability, but you and your friends will have a lot of options on how you want to approach the game. It’s a great RPG to play solo, but when you have a group to tackle dungeons with, it’s even more enjoyable, and for that reason, I felt Diablo 4 would be a strong start to this list, definitely a must-play.

Stardew Valley
It’s Not Just A Farming Game
Released in 2016, this retro-styled farming sim quickly won the hearts of gamers across the world and is easily one of the greatest cozy games of all time. Full of charming NPCs, rewarding quests, places to explore, and of course, farming, Stardew Valley is a game everyone should have in their rotation.
If you’re feeling a little burnt out after firing 1000 machine gun rounds in a Call of Duty match, fire up Stardew and help your friends rebuild the farm, go fishing, mining, or search for the love of your life. You’ll also have the ability to specialize in different skills, allowing you and your friends to build an efficient team to complement each other.
I’ve always appreciated the art of smashing rocks in search of valuable gems and resources, and I love the way Stardew allows you to choose how you want to approach the wonderful world of mining. You can choose between being a miner or a geologist, which will affect your specializations when you reach level 10.
Blacksmithing continues to be a big draw for me in any game, so I often choose miner, and then blacksmith, and these specializations are part of why Stardew is such a great choice for a four-player co-op adventure. Each member of your group has the freedom to take a unique path while still collaborating on a single project.
Even if you think Stardew Valley might not be what you’re looking for, I still encourage you to try it, as there’s a good chance you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how immersive and fun it is, and that’s why I felt it deserved the number nine spot.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2
We Stand Together
If you want your four-player co-op experience to be full of medieval decapitations and intense melee combat, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is definitely a must-play. Released in 2018, WV2 is still worth every penny in 2025, and you don’t have to be familiar with Warhammer lore to enjoy it.
You and your friends can choose between five heroes: Markus Kruber, Bardin Goreksson, Sienna Fuegonasus, Kerillian, and Victor Saltzpyre. You’ll be able to specialize in three unique careers with each of the characters, and there are a total of 15 talent trees, giving you complete control of how you want to play the game.

Monster Hunter Wilds
Satisfying Co-op Gameplay
Monster Hunter did it again! MH Wilds is a stunning game with engaging combat, a deep roster of fearsome monsters to hunt, and gear to forge. Weather systems and changing seasons create some really immersive environments, and that’s one of the things I love most about Wilds: it’s visually stunning.
What makes MH Wilds a great co-op experience is the long list of weapons that allow each member of your team to create their own identity. From charge blades to bowguns, hammers, or the classic sword and shield, you and your friends will be able to personalize your weapons and armor to fill specific roles.
Personally, I love the gameplay loop that we see throughout the MH series, and if you’re a group of gamers that enjoy satisfying combat and grinding for resources to craft with, MH Wilds is a great choice for you, which is why it lands a spot on this list at number seven.

Path Of Exile 2
Complex & Captivating
Path of Exile 2 is still in early access and will inevitably receive a lot more improvements, but it already provides a really fun co-op experience with massive and complex skill trees that allow for full playstyle customization. As a gamer who grew up on Diablo, I love what POE2 is doing, and I think the game has a bright future ahead of it.
With 12 character classes to choose from, each with wildly different playstyles and skill trees, POE2 gives you an overwhelming amount of options. I’ve personally really enjoyed the Ranger class, as I’ve always been drawn to the classic bow and arrow kit, especially when elemental arrows are involved.
Visually, the game looks fantastic, the combat feels smooth, and tackling boss fights with friends is incredibly satisfying, and for those reasons, Path of Exile 2 comes in at number six.

Divinity: Original Sin 2
Turn-Based Combat
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a tactical turn-based RPG from the same makers of Baldur’s Gate 3, but it was released in 2017. Don’t let the release date fool you, though; DOS2 will still give you and your friends a gaming experience you won’t soon forget.
If you’re looking for a challenging game that makes you think strategically in every situation, DOS2 is a great choice for your next co-op adventure. Choose between five pre-made origin characters, or build your own character from scratch and select your starting abilities, race, and appearance.

I personally loved how diverse you can make your playstyles and builds when playing in a group of friends. DOS2 has a long list of great qualities, and I’ve personally had a ton of fun with this game; for that reason, it graciously makes the top five.

Deep Rock Galactic
Rock & Stone!
Deep Rock Galactic is one of my all-time favorite games. It’s just such an uplifting experience, especially when you get to share it with friends. One thing that really hooked me about DRG is the unique skills of the four character classes: The Engineer, The Driller, The Gunner, and The Scout.
In DRG, you are working for an interplanetary mining company, so you’ll be exploring cave systems throughout the galaxy in search of valuable resources. Traversing these bug-infested caves isn’t easy, but luckily, each class has its own unique tools to help get the job done, and this creates the opportunity for some really fun synergies.
On my first playthrough, I tried the engineer, and I absolutely loved the character design. The engineer has a platform gun that enables you to create platforms, and pairing it with the scouts’ grappling hook means that no place is off-limits.
The combat is really satisfying, character customization is great, exploration is top-notch, and even the space rig where you select your missions is full of mini-games and cool things to do. I love the attention to detail in DRG, and I couldn’t possibly recommend it more to anybody looking for a good co-op game, and that’s why it takes the number four position.

Grounded
An Incredible Co-op Experience
I started my first Grounded playthrough with two of my good friends, and I was excited to try a new game with them, but I definitely didn’t expect it to blow my mind the way it did. Inspired by Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Grounded is a survival RPG where you and your friends will fight for survival in a backyard full of hostile bugs after being shrunken down to a tiny size.
You’ll have to explore the area, find resources, craft weapons, armor, and building supplies, and construct a shelter to defend yourself against any threats that may come your way. The first night we had in the Grounded World, a wolf spider attacked our shelter, and we were definitely not prepared, as we had just started the game, resulting in a hilarious experience that I’ll never forget.
Grounded does survival really well, and you’ll have to plan ahead, make sure you’re stocked up on food and water, and craft equipment to deal with things like stinkbug gas or scorching hot sand. If you haven’t tried Grounded yet, I urge you to do so, which is why I had to award it a spot on the podium.

Enshrouded
Survival Action-RPG
Enshrouded was released in 2024 and has quickly become a fan favorite for its intuitive base-building, satisfying crafting system, and a beautiful, massive open world to explore. You’ll be able to take on the realm of Embervale with up to 16 players as you journey through an immersive world in a fight for survival and knowledge.
When it comes to open-world survival games, Enshrouded is a big win for the gaming world and a top-notch choice for your next gaming adventure. For a game that’s still in early-access, it feels extremely polished, and the crafting and building systems are so good they could make you cry a little bit.
Enshrouded also has an in-depth skill tree, and I had a lot of fun experimenting with different builds, testing out playstyles like ranger, wizard, barbarian, assassin, and battlemage. Overall, I think Enshrouded is a fantastic game with a bright future, definitely a must-play RPG worthy of the number two spot.

Baldur’s Gate 3
Arguably The G.O.A.T
Gnomes, Dwarves, Elves, Paladins, Monks, Wizards, you name it, you can be it. Larian Studios did what it does best, and with Baldur’s Gate 3, they set the bar as high as it’s ever been. When it comes to rich open-ended stories, immersive gameplay, and cinematic greatness, BG3 is top of its class, and if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it.
Why does BG3 deserve the number one spot over all of these other great games? It’s the attention to detail, the weight of your decisions, the character customization, the dialogue, and the overall co-op experience. The replayability is endless, and every time I’ve played it, I’m impressed in new ways, I find new things, and my friends and I share hilarious and wild moments together.
When it comes to role-playing games, freedom is probably the most crucial element, and BG3 has no shortage of it. Whether your moral compass is intact, or you are looking to create pure chaos and see how it affects the world around you, the choice is yours, and that’s one of the reasons why it has quickly been recognized as one of the best games of all time, making it an easy choice for the number one spot.
