Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader – How To Play Multiplayer

Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader lets players explore the galaxy co-op with their friends, with anywhere between 2 to 6 players at a time.

One of these unique aspects of the game that blends lore and gameplay is Force Weapons, which can’t be used by just any character and can be very powerful in the right hands. Force Weapons are their own weapon type, and players will be coming across them often during their journey through the galaxy.

What Are Force Weapons

A Non-Psyker Trying To Equip A Force Weapon

While Force Weapons may seem like normal swords, hammers, or spears, they actually have a powerful device within that channels Psychic powers from the wielder through the weapon. This means that Force Weapons can only be used by party members who are Psykers, as the weapon is mostly a conduit to their already powerful abilities. This stands true in Rogue Trader, as any Force Weapon can only be used by a Psyker, and there is no talent to be learned to wield these powerful weapons.

Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader will have players fighting all sorts of enemies while exploring the galaxy; here’s how combat works.

How To Use Force Weapons

The Level 1 Psy Rating Talent

Force Weapons can only be used by sanctioned Psykers, such as Hendrix. Players can also make their Rogue Trader a Psyker by picking the Sanctioned Psyker origin when creating their character. Despite how appealing these weapons seem, other characters who are not Psykers will be unable to use these weapons ever.

Force Weapons already have strong stats and high Armor Penetration but also receive a damage bonus based on the wielder’s Psy Rating. The Psy Rating is a measure of that character’s Psychic abilities and can be upgraded with a talent every ten levels to also significantly increase the damage output of Force Weapons and all other Psychic abilities. These weapons are very powerful in the hands of close-ranged Psykers and should be a go-to weapon in at least one weapon slot for every Psyker in the party.
