There have been so many studies into how gaming can actually benefit people, young and old, in helping to increase that little bit of gray matter in the brain. From improving memory and mood to problem-solving and, yes, even social skills, and, it seems as though Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s director Naoki Hamaguchi feels the exact same way.

That’s some heavy hitting inspirations!

FF7 Rebirth Director Says Ghost of Tsushima And Witcher 3 Inspired Rebirth’s World Map

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi discusses how Ghost of Tsushima and The Witcher 3 influenced his gameplay decisions.

The game industry has been hit hard over the years, and only recently, as many as 900 individuals were laid off from Sony PlayStation. It’s certainly a tough and dismal outlook for those whose dream has always been to be a part of this, once, vibrant and exciting sector.

Final Fantasy Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi gave a small ray of hope and light to those aspiring to join the industry after playing the game. When asked how he felt about being such a big influence on gamers and what advice he would give to those who had been waiting for this sequel, Hamaguchi replied that he initially felt the heavy obligation and duty that came with creating Rebirth and that he didn’t want to disappoint fans.

“I myself respect the original game very much. After almost 30 years, and remaking this game, having the responsibility of remaking this game is, the feeling that comes straight away is, I don’t want to let the title, let this game down, let the fans down.”

He then went on to give an uplifting message to fans who wanted to pursue a career in the game industry after playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and how important he believes video games are in the constant struggle we all face throughout life, especially in today’s climate.

“So this is a message to people that are aspiring to join the industry, having played this game. There are many [forms] of entertainment today, not only gaming but movies, streaming, YouTube. But the base is the same – it’s to give the people the will to live, today and tomorrow.” said Hamaguchi.

He ended his heartfelt note by giving some advice to those who may need it when developing their game. “And if the title you created allows people to have this feeling, then that’s a great feeling. If you don’t forget this, then I’m sure you’ll also be able to create a game that has this effect on people.”

So there you have it – even Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s director believes that by playing games and engaging in its worlds and characters, it can give people hope and clarity through uncertain times and also give players a way to cope, or “will” to deal with their everyday challenges.

Now this is a challenge!
