Starfield Players Left In Awe After Discovering Secret Execution Animation

Highlights

  • NPCs in Starfield can perform execution animations, but players are unable to do so without mods.
  • The discovery of hidden execution animations by a player has caused confusion among fellow gamers.
  • While Bethesda may not prioritize adding player execution animations, updates with bug fixes and new content are expected.

While Starfield players are unable to perform execution animations (at least without the use of mods), one player has discovered that the animations are already in the game and used by NPCs.

Over on the Starfield subreddit, a recent post by user GloriousGooferZ has left fellow players baffled by the discovery. Titled “Huh, there’s already an execution animation in the game,” the short clip then shows fellow NPC companion Sarah Morgan absolutely brutalizing an enemy with a unique execution animation not seen by many before.

Starfield Players Desperately Urge Bethesda To Add Mechs In Future Update

Players think it’s “stupid” that they’re not already available.

Considering execution animations aren’t actually available to Starfield players, there was an abundance of responses that were baffled by Bethesda’s decision to include them for NPCs, but not the actual player. “We need this happening more often and with more variants. Also allow us to do them,” one user said.

“Why is this not a thing for the player character?! Seriously, love the game but when I see stuff like this it makes my blood boil. I want my character to be able to do that! It’s obviously possible,” another Reddit user said in response.

Other Starfield players even noted that other Bethesda titles, such as Fallout 4, included execution animations. Which raises the question: why were they not included in Starfield? One user speculated that it may have been to make the game “more PG” or “because melee was an afterthought and they didn’t get it working in time.”

While there are plenty of quality-of-life improvements on the way, it’s unlikely that Bethesda is prioritizing execution animations. Instead, players can expect city maps, new ways to travel, new gameplay options, and plenty of bug fixes in the game’s next update.

After announcing in an end-of-year update that Starfield would be receiving new updates roughly every 6 weeks, it’s expected to be any day now that the game’s second major update is released. The first update of the year was released back in January and was Starfield’s “biggest update yet,” according to Bethesda. The patch included a plethora of bug fixes and even some fancy new graphical improvements.
