15 Basic Cast Mastery

Reduce Skill Cooldown With Every Basic Cast

Basic Cast is a core spell in Hogwarts Legacy that allows wizards to deal minor damage to targets. However, it’s recommended to upgrade this skill to the Basic Cast Mastery talent as it would allow the caster to reduce the cooldown of skills with each successive basic cast.

The Basic Cast Mastery will help you bypass the need for a Focus Potion when you learn to mix in some basic cast between skills. If you mostly rely on skills to fight enemies, the Basic Cast Mastery is a foundational talent worth unlocking.

14 Incendio Mastery

Launch A Ring Of Fire Catching Enemies In A Radius

Incendio Mastery is an upgrade to the Incendio spell that unleashes a ring of fire around a character, damaging any enemy caught in its radius. If you find yourself relying on Incendio to inflict fire damage on your enemies, you’ll find the Incendio Mastery talent quite reliable at momentarily staggering multiple enemies and setting them on fire.

Incendio Mastery is also an excellent synergistic talent that can be used as a follow-up spell to create powerful combos. Incendio Mastery is a great offensive talent to invest in as it caters to wizards who like to aggressively take the battle under their control.

13 Headache

Unleash The Power Of Shrieking Mandrakes To Incapacitate Foes

The Headache talent in Hogwarts Legacy is an incapacitating skill that enables wizards to use magical Mandrake plants. With the Headache talent, the screeching effect of the Mandrake plant is intensified, leaving groups of enemies stunned for a duration, allowing wizards to follow up with powerful spells.

You’ll need to grow Madrake seeds in the Room of Requirement. Mandrake seeds can be purchased from Dogweed and Deathcap store, north of Hogsmeade. Combining Headache with other Room of Requirement talents and potions can result in efficient crowd control and damage output.

12 Noxious

Leverage The Power Of Plants To Defeat Your Targets

If you enjoy using the power of plants to take down enemies, you’ll get a lot of use from Noxious talent. The Noxious talent allows the Venemous Tentacula plant to deal additional damage and break enemy shields. However, it’s worth noting that since plants cannot move, their usage is situational.

Like Mandrake, Venomous Tentacula sseds can also be purchased from the Dogweed and Deathcap shop. You can grow the Venomous Tentacula at the potting table at the Room of Requirement. The Noxious talent, when unlocked at level 22, allows Venomous Tentacula to deal an additional 25% damage.

11 Focus Potion Potency

Cast Unlimited Spells For A Duration

If you enjoy comboing multiple spells together and creating powerful spell synergies, then the Focus Potion Potency is an important talent worth unlocking. Additionally, the effect of the Focus Potion is extended when casting any spell from the spell set while the potion’s efferct is active.

With the Focus Potion Potency, you can cast a flurry of spells to overwhelm enemies and potentially clear an arena in a few seconds, giving no time for enemies to react. However, if you unlock the Basic Cast Mastery, you can skip investing your talent points in Focus Potion Potency, as the Basic Cast Mastery reduces spell cooldown by 1 second for every basic attack.

10 Thunderbrew Potency

Cast Large AOE Thunder Spells

The receipe for the Thunderbrew Potion can be purchased from J.Pippin’s Potion apothecary in Hogsmeade. Once you’ve unlocked the Room of Requirement, you can brew the Thunderbrew potion by combining 1 Leech Juice, 1 Shrivelfig Fruit, and 1 Stench of the Dead.

Consuming the Thunderbrew Potion causes lightning to fall around the area for 30 seconds, damaging any enemy caught in the lightning strike. The Tunderbrew Potion Potency talent increases the damage of lightning strikes by 75% and the AoE radius is increased by 50%.

9 Accio Mastery

Yank Multiple Enemies Closer

Accio is a spell that allows a wizard to summon objects and enemies closer upon casting. Once objects or enemies are pulled closer, they will continue to levitate in the air, allowing you to followup with a powerful damaging spell.

The Accio Mastery, when unlocked, allows the caster to summon multiple enemies closer, who can then be damaged with a powerful AoE spell like Confrigo Mastery, adding variety to how you approach enemy groups and you choice for stylistic combat. You can unlock Accio Mastery pretty early as it only requires you to reach level 5.

8 Maxima Potion Potency

Increase Damage Output & Break Shields

The Maxima Potion enables caster’s spells to deal 100% damage for a duration of 30 seconds. Pairing the Maxima Potion with the Focus Potion enables the caster to deal massive damage to enemies with overcharged spells. You can purchase the Maxima Potion recipe from J. Pippin’s Potion apothecary in Hogsmeade.

Taking the Maxima Potion to the next level is the associated mastery, Maxima Potion Potency, which increases the damage spells by 200%, and breaks enemy shields. The ability to break shields, makes the Maxima Potion Potency a powerful talent to unlock as soon as possible.

7 Swift

Vanish & Reappear On The Battlefield

Swift is a defensive talent and a core skill that allows you to evade enemy attacks. The Swift talent modifies how wizards evade incoming attacks and tactically reposition. Since dodging in Hogwarts Legacy can be quite slow and does not create a safe distance between the wizard and their target, the Swift talent resolves the shortcoming of the basic dodge.

To engage the Swift talent, you must hold the evade key, which causes your character to vanish and reposition at a different location on the battlefield. The talent can be used tactically to control the battlefield.

6 Blood Curse

Inflict Damage To Multiple Enemies Afflicted With Curse

The Blood Curse is a powerful talent in Hogwarts Legacy under the Dark Arts talent tree. Blood Curse is a very effective talent if you enjoy using the Unforgiving Curses. Unforgiving Curses are classified was illegal curses, which have consequences upon casting them. However, in Hogwarts Legacy, besides lore, there are no penalties on wizards engaging in Unforgiving Curses.

The Blood Curse takes effect when an already cursed target takes damage. Moreover, if there are multiple targets cursed in the arena, damaging one of the cursed targets, damages all cursed targets in the arena, making it an effective multi-target spell.

5 Confringo Mastery

Launch Fiery Bolts That Target Multiple Enemies

The Confringo spell can be unlocked after completing the Shadow of the Undercroft main quest and follow Sebastian Sallow’s directions. The spell allows the wizard to cast a fiery bolt at a target, dealing 25 damage. The spell can be upgraded by unlocking the Confringo Mastery talent, which enables you to target multiple enemies with the Confringo bolt.

With the Confringo Mastery talent, Confringo bolts after hitting a target, seeks out two additional enemies and deals 10 damage while setting them on fire. The Confringo Mastery gives the caster the confidence to take on enemy groups and deal damage to multiple enemies.

4 Bombarda Mastery

Unleash A Powerful Radial Explosion

If you haven’t unlocked the Bombarda spell already, you can learn this offensive spell by completing Professor Howin’s Assignment where you capture a Diricawl and a Giant Purple Toad. The Bombarda Mastery is an upgrade to the powerful Bombarda spell that unleashes a concentrated explosion around the affected target, dealing 20 base damage to affected enemies and the blast radius is increased by 75%.

The Bombarda Mastery is an excellent crowd control talent, allowing you to push away annoying creatures. A well-placed Bombarda can devastate clusters of enemies, creating a breathing room, and giving you a strategic advantage on the battlefield.

3 Crucio Mastery

Inflict Curse Of Crucio To Secondary Target

Crucio is among the three Unforgiving Curses, and it can be learned after completing In The Shadow of the Study quest for Sebastian Sallow. Cursing an enemy with Crucio binds them momentarily and deals tick damage for the duration of 20 seconds.

Upgrading the Crucio curse with the Crucio Mastery talent, enables you to spread the curse to a nearby enemy. This can be achieved by first inflicting the curse on an enemy and following up with a basic attack. Cursing multiple enemies in the arena can whittle down their HP, giving you the upper hand to dispatch them with ease.

2 Avada Kedavara Mastery

Bring Death Upon Multiple Targets Instantly

Avada Kedavara is an Unforgivable Curse that instantly puts a target to death. While being exceptionally overpowered, the curse also has a longer cooldown of 90 seconds. Despite that, it’s worth investing in the Avada Kedavara Mastery talent as it enables you to eliminate multiple enemies in a flash.

To utilize Avada Kedavara Mastery’s full potential, you must first curse your targets and then follow-up with the talent. This is where the Curcio Mastery talent synergizes with the Avada Kedavara Mastery, as it enables you to curse multiple enemies. If you’re playing the game on hard difficulty, the Avada Kedavara Mastery talent can be a lifesaver.

1 Transformation Mastery

Use Enemies As Explosive Barrels

The Transformation Mastery is a powerful talent that turns an enemy struck by the spell into barrels, which can then be summoned and hurled at enemies, resulting in a powerful explosion. Enemy struck with the barrel receives 40 base damage and enemies caught in the explosion radius receive 100 AoE damage.

The Transformation Mastery talent also synergizes with the Crucio Mastery, where you first spread the Crucio curse, and then turn a cursed enemy into an explosive barrel with the Transformation Mastery. Throwing the explosive barrel eliminates all enemies inflicted by the Crucio curse, giving you an alternate to the Avada Kedavara Mastery.
