One of these social links outside of school is Akinari Kamiki, the Dying Young Man who visits the Shrine. Akinari is widely considered one of the best-written and most impactful social links players can complete, making him a must-meet for every player.

How To Unlock Akinari & Availability
To first meet Akinari, players will need to complete rank 3 on the Hanged Man Social link with Maiko and also have Rank 4 Academics to continue the social link. During that rank, Akinari will also meet the player at the Shrine. Return to the Shrine on a later Sunday to find Akinari sitting at the bench behind the playground. He will mention that he is missing his red fountain pen.
To find the pen, return to the dorm and interact with Koromaru (the red-eyed beast), who will be right next to the door and have an exclamation point over his head. Koromaru found the pen, and it can be taken back to Akinari to begin his social link. Akinari is found at the Shrine only during the day on Sundays, making him one of the more difficult social links to max out.
