New The Last Of Us Season 2 Set Photos Are Some Of The Eeriest So Far

Highlights

  • Season 2 of The Last of Us is set to premiere in 2025, containing seven episodes and offering eerie scenes.
  • New set images from Mt. Seymour in North Vancouver hint at spooky forest goings-on with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
  • Fans are eagerly anticipating the adaptation of iconic storylines and unseen stories in the upcoming season.

It’s already been a very long wait for HBO’s The Last of Us to get back on our screens, but season two looks like it’s shaping up nicely with production going full steam ahead. Season one was a smash hit straight out of the door when it debuted in January 2023, and although the series has seen its fair share of setbacks due to the strikes, fans have had sneak peeks of Joel and Ellie to tie them over.

Since season 2 was confirmed, The Last of Us fans have been crying out to know more about how its iconic storyline will be adapted and, although co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have remained mostly tight-lipped, we do know that season 2 will contain seven episodes, which is shorter than in season one, with plans to continue the story into a third season. To ramp up its 2025 launch even further, new set images show some of its eeriest scenes yet.

Inventing new IPs after years of sequels is difficult, but it’s what makes every such case special.

In a post from the Twitter/X account The Last of Us News, a handful of reportedly new images from season 2 have been shared. In the behind the scenes stills, apparently taken on set from the filming location in Mt. Seymour in North Vancouver, BC by TikTok user johnnycagejc, season 2 seems to be carrying out some spooky forest goings-on. In what looks to be fog being pumped into the lush forest, Pedro Pascal’s stunt double can also be seen standing about in the background, while Bella Ramsey waits around in between takes with her horse Shimmer.

Although there’s no context to what this scene could be, a possible theory might be the flashback where Tommy teaches Ellie to shoot and Joel takes her off on an adventure through the forest to find guitar strings, passing a hotel overrun with infected and encountering that dreaded bloater. Of course, it might also be the scene from Part 2 where Ellie and Dina ride out together through the woods, although it wouldn’t explain why Joel is there, as this particular part would be after his death – unless HBO is mixing things up a little.

Either way, it’s interesting to see where The Last of Us Season 2 is in its development process and if it is a flashback scene, then this might be something that they would shoot towards the end. Over the coming months, we will likely get a clearer view of what season 2 will entail, whether that’s through fans sneaking onto sets or through official sources. Regardless, we are here for it all and can’t wait until its launch sometime in 2025.
