Baldur’s Gate 3: Chapter 1 Checklist (Things You Don’t Want To Miss In Act 1)

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive game, and you can easily miss important things. Here’s a list of everything you don’t want to miss in Act 1.

Sometimes, you can miss certain merchants just because you didn’t complete a quest or speak to them. Here are the easiest-to-miss merchants (and some secret ones) throughout the three acts of the game.

Updated by Erin Rice on February 8, 2024: As new information is found out about the game, more secrets are discovered. This update added two additional merchants that players may miss.

There are three merchants that you will need to complete quests in order to unlock in Act 1. Here’s a list of them all.

The Paladins Of Tyr – Karlach’s Enemies

If you speak to the Paladins of Tyr (the ones who are hunting Karlach along with Wyll), you will first notice that they aren’t really Paladins of Tyr. However, if you speak to them before Karlach, you can trade with them. Since most players will go straight to kill them, they miss this opportunity.

Brem – Zhentarim Merchant

A group of players entering the Zhentarim Hideout in Baldur's Gate 3.

Brem is the one that you can purchase Oskar Fevras from in the Zhentarim Hideout in Waukeen’s Rest. While you can purchase things from him at any time (the artist included), he has a secret stash for anyone who is an honorary Zhentarim member. This means that you will need to help them out and complete the quests they give you in order to be granted a look at his real wares.

Omeluum – The Mind Flayer

Baldur's Gate 3 Omeluum And Blurg In The Myconid Camp

Omeluum is the Mind Flayer in the Underdark who is willing to help you rid yourself of the parasite in your head. If you tell him no, you can walk away; however, telling him yes will allow you to purchase things from him once the quest is completed.

Lady Esther – The Society Of Brilliance

Baldur's Gate 3 Lady Esther

Lady Esther can be found in the Mountain Pass looking for someone to get her a Githyanki Egg. If you do this (or trick her into thinking that you did it), you can trade with her and see what she has to offer. Otherwise, she will just talk about the egg.

You can meet Barcus Wroot in Act 1 at the Blighted Village. He is the Gnome stuck on the windmill in need of saving. If you rescue him here, you can find him again in Grymforge. Saving him one last time in Act 1 will mean you can meet him at Last Light Inn and trade with him.

Araj Oblodra – The Absolute’s Blood Experimenter

Baldur's Gate 3 Araj tells Tav to control Astarion

Araj is a trader in Moonrise Towers who will offer you some serious potions in exchange for drops of your blood. While it may seem weird to do this, you can unlock new items in her shop by doing so. You can also meet her again in Act 3, and she will give you some interesting items then too.

Lann Tarv’s Secret Stash – Moonrise Tower’s Quartermaster

Gale’s cat, Tara, can be found roaming around the roofs of the Lower City. She is extremely easy to miss since, if you don’t know who she is, you may assume she is just another cat and decide not to speak to her.

Echo of Abazigal – The Murder Tribunal’s Secret Weapon

Baldur's Gate 3 Echo of Abazigal

The Echo of Abazigal is located in the City Sewers with the Bhaalist Murder Tribunal. In order to purchase things from him, you will need to join the Bhaalists and kill some of your companions. However, if you are willing to do this, you can get some amazing stuff.

Skittle – The Rat In The Prison

Skittle may seem like any old rat in Baldur’s Gate 3, but he is actually a secret merchant. If you find him in Heapside Prison, you can speak to him and trade with him. Since most players forget to stop and talk to the local wildlife, a lot of players have missed this adorable merchant.
