How To Find Lava Caves
If you’re looking for Obsidian, you can find it in Lava Caves. Unfortunately, these aren’t the easiest things to find. Unlike caves in the Grasslands, Lava Caves don’t mark themselves on your map. So, even if you find one, you might want to drop a marker, so you can return to it. You’ll find these caves in the desert biome. You want to look out for large patches of trees. When you see a large gathering of trees, look for a Lava Cave nearby. The area usually looks pretty distinct.

How To Find Obsidian
Once you’re in the cave, you’ll need to look around for some rocks with a blue hue. I mostly found these glittering ore deposits high up on walls or on the ceiling. Bring some wood with you and be prepared to build some stairs to reach these ore deposits. You’re also going to need a blue pickaxe if you hope to mine these deposits. Oh, and since you’re in a Lava Cave, be prepared to deal with some extreme heat. I would suggest Snowberries, but you’ll ideally want to make a Snowberry Shake in a juicer.
