James Gunn Seems To Be Indicating There’s More Arkham Games Left To Make

Highlights

  • “Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League” is not the last game in the Arkham series, according to a now-deleted social media post from James Gunn.
  • Some fans have concerns about the future of the series following the death of longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy.
  • The fifth installment in the Arkham series, set for release in February 2024, is considered a continuation of the previous games despite the different naming convention.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is scheduled for release in early February, 2024, and if a now-deleted social media post from big-time studio executive and filmmaker close to the series is to be believed.

X (formerly Twitter) account @dcuworld on Sunday shared an image purportedly to have been an online exchange between James Gunn and another party. Asked by the other party if Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League will serve as a finale of the Arkham series, Gunn is shown answering in the negative, with the image of his post reading “No plans of it being the last!”

Following up on the original post, DCUWorld provided a second image that seems to bolster the validity of the first. Asked by one person online (who was concerned that Kill The Justice Leage would be the last Arkham game) whether he wanted “the priorities to shift to the DCU games first” as opposed to the Arkham games, James is shown to respond, “No way! I personally can’t wait for the game and hopefully more. I’m a fan!”

The Batman: Arkham series consists of four main games dating back to 2009 with the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum. The most recent installment in the main series, Batman: Arkham Knight also came out several years ago, in 2015. Developed by Rocksteady Studios and set for release on February 2, 2024, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is considered to be a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series, even if it doesn’t share the same naming convention and the previous games.

The Arkham series has some pretty iconic boss fights, and these are the most difficult ones to defeat.

It is difficult to verify the validity of the images and if they were actually posted by Gunn, as the replies has since been deleted. However, if legitimate, they spell good things down the road for Arkham fans, who won’t have to treat the fifth installment in the series as a late-blooming swan song.

Still, some fans have concerns about the future of the series after the passing away of longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy in November 2022. Conroy still has three posthumous credits for upcoming projects on his IMDB profile, including two as Batman, and one of those will be in Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
