Where To Find Bound Assassins

bound assassin nightingale

Hollow Metal can only be obtained by defeating Bound Assassins – an elite variant of the Bound that only starts appearing in Tier 2 Realms. The earliest you’ll be able to encounter these enemies is in the Herbarium Realm. None of the Tier 1 Realms like Provisioner or Astrolabe will have any Bound Assassins to fight, and therefore no Hollow Metal either.

To confirm if a Realm variation has the chance to spawn a certain type of enemies, you can tab over to the ‘NPCs & Creatures’ menu on the map (if you’re in the Realm already) or before you portal through. All possible enemy varieties in that Realm will be shown under ‘Potential Creatures‘.

And as we can confirm using the screenshot above, the Desert Herbarium Realm does indeed have Bound Assassins that we can fight. Play the Realm Card at the portal and step on through.

If you deliberately make the wrong choice in a Bastille of Intellect puzzle, a Bound enemy will spawn to punish you. From our testing, in Desert Herbarium Realms, this is always a lone Bound Assassin. Use this trick to spawn an infinite number of Bound Assassins the easy way.

How To Defeat Bound Assassins

Bound Assassins are quick on their feet and zip around to disorient attackers. They also have a ranged attack where they throw scythes at you, but they’ll do the most damage up close. Try to bring a follower to draw aggro and take them out quickly, as they can dish out massive damage if you’re not careful. Their head is their weak spot, so aim there whenever possible.

You won’t have to get more than a few of these for Victor Frankenstein, so you don’t need to optimize your farming patterns too much if you’re only looking to complete the mission. However, Hollow Metal is more useful than just that. On top of being a quest item, it is also an excellent crafting material with high critical damage and stealth rating. Use it to make your melee weapons, and they’ll do significantly more damage while making sneaking vastly more effective.

If you’re looking for Hollow Metal to complete Victor’s questline, you’ll also need to look for Yew Lumber and Petrified Ichor. If so, you might find our guide on how to get yew lumber helpful.
