Baldur’s Gate 3: How To Reach The Ancient Shar Temple

The Ancient Shar Temple is an important place in Baldur’s Gate 3. Here’s how to reach it.

One major decision you make is regarding Isobel, the one keeping the Shadow Curse in check at Last Light Inn. Once you meet her, you will either need to decide to save her, kill her, or help the Cult of the Absolute kidnap her.

Who Is Isobel?

Isobel In The Last Light Inn

Isobel is Ketheric Thorm’s, the leader of the Cult of the Absolute in Moonrise Towers, daughter. He is one of the three chosen by the Absolute and is the enemy, no matter what path you take. You will learn that Isobel is a Half-Elf Cleric of Selune, and is also the lover of Aylin, Selune’s daughter. While it is unknown exactly what happened, when you meet Isobel, you will quickly learn that she was risen from the dead by her father, Ketheric Thorm, and she has been dead for over a century. She is Last Light Inn’s only hope against the Shadow Curse, so needless to say, you must figure out what you want to do with her.

How Does Isobel Get To Moonrise Towers?

Isobel will reach Moonrise Towers one of two ways.

  1. You allow her to be kidnapped.
  2. You protect her and destroy her father.

If you allow her to be kidnapped from Last Light Inn, the protection spell will be broken, and she will be taken to Moonrise Towers. If you keep her safe, she will show up at the very end of Act 2 and will be waiting in the throne room of Moonrise Towers.

Where Is She In Moonrise Towers?

Baldur's Gate 3 - Evil Isobel

If you allow her to be kidnapped, you may be wondering where she is in Moonrise Towers, after all, being evil isn’t fun if you don’t get to see the consequences of your actions. Unfortunately, this won’t come to fruition until later on in Act 2. No matter how hard you search Moonrise Towers, you will never find her. The truth is, she isn’t in Moonrise Towers by the time you reach it. Instead, Ketheric Thorm will have already taken Isobel to the Mind Flayer Colony underneath Moonrise Towers. Once you finally reach that point, he will tell you that he has been preparing her to be one with the Absolute. Considering her father is in the Cult of the Absolute, it shouldn’t be such a shock that he has forced her to lose herself to the Absolute.
