Highlights

  • Chapter 5 Season 3 revamps car meta with vehicle mods and then balances them out due to player outcry.
  • Epic Games tweaks vehicle health, nitro gauntlet, and car skin issues to address community concerns.
  • YouTuber NickEh30 uncovers ‘pay-to-lose’ car skins, sparking backlash among players who demand fixes.

Fortnite’s newest season is becoming its most controversial one yet, and it’s all due to the new car meta. While cars have been available in the game for quite some time now, Chapter 5 Season 3 took things to a whole new level.

Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked kicked off last week with a plethora of new content, changes, fixes, and much more. One of the biggest changes to arrive with the new season was the return of vehicle mods, but this time Epic Games had ramped up the feature with four new mods for players to check out.

Apparently nobody has ever seen a PlayStation 5 without its side plates on…

From a machine gun turret to bulletproof tyres, vehicle mods quickly became the new meta for Chapter 5 Season 3, and fans weren’t happy. Thankfully, Epic Games heard the cries of the community and deployed some much needed balance changes, which you can check out below:

  • Reduced Machine Gun Turrets accuracy and Grenade Launcher Turrets damage to structures.
  • Reduced vehicle health in Solos.
  • Boss cars do not automatically regen health anymore.
  • Boosted damage dealt to vehicles from Boom Bolts.
  • Increased Nitro Gauntlets recharge time.
  • Reduced Nitro shoulder bash damage to players.

While these changes helped prevent cars from being the new meta, another issue seems to have cropped up within the community after a YouTuber made a new discovery.

YouTuber Discovers ‘Pay-To-Lose’ Cars In Fortnite

Popular Fortnite YouTuber and streamer NickEh30 recently discovered that some car skins that are purchasable from the in-game item shop are actually ‘pay-to-lose’. As they demonstrate in the video below, there are a handful of vehicles that offer no protection from opponents that jump into the passenger seat, thus making it pretty easy to be killed.

These vehicles include the Whiplash, Werewolf, Scorpion, and Masamune. While all other vehicle skins offer much more protection from enemy players due to the designs of their respective windshields.

This discovery didn’t go down too well with players. One user responded by saying, “Are you joking me?” While another tagged Epic Games and demanded the studio provide a fix for it. Whether or not the studio does intend to do anything about these supposed ‘pay-to-lose’ car skins is yet to be seen.
