Fallout Fans Debate Who Should Play The Mysterious Stranger In Season 2

Highlights

  • Season 2 of Fallout has been confirmed, with Deathclaws making an appearance after being absent in season one.
  • Fans are speculating on who should play The Mysterious Stranger in season 2, with Todd Howard being a popular choice.
  • Some fans suggest keeping the identity of The Mysterious Stranger a mystery, while others favor actors like Timothy Olyphant or Ron Perlman for the role.

It’s safe to say that Fallout season one has been a hit with Wasteland devotees, so it comes as no surprise that it’s been given the green light for season 2, a mere week after the Amazon Prime game adaptation aired.

As yet, we won’t know what’s in store for the post-apocalyptic series for a while as it digs its heels into another exciting venture, but according to a recent interview with The Wrap, Deathclaws have been confirmed for season 2 after being given the heave-ho in season one. As speculation circles on where Fallout could head next, fans gather around to discuss who they would love to see play the franchise’s The Mysterious Stranger.

The show’s production designer spilled the beans on how Vault-Tec was created.

If you’ve played through Bethesda’s Fallout franchise, you may have happened upon a strange and random, yet helpful, encounter with a mysterious character dressed in a 1950s crime detective trenchcoat and a loaded .44. Although no interaction ever occurs between players and this curious man, he does jump in at moments of need to help out in battles with his cracking aim. By acquiring the Mysterious Stranger perk in the games, players can spawn this helpfully weird chappy in hostile encounters to give them a slight upper hand in sticky situations.

On Reddit, Fallout fans have been discussing what actor they feel would best fill the role of The Mysterious Stranger if he happened to be drafted into season 2. Probably not very surprising but a very large percentage of comments suggested that Todd Howard would make a great addition to the series by taking on a cameo role of our random trenchcoat dude. “Todd Howard just for the fanbase shitstorm.” said RetroSwamp, who received over 4.4k likes for this comment alone. “It just works” – blows smoke off revolver barrel.

Another popular choice was simply allowing a random stunt person or someone completely outside the entertainment industry to become The Mysterious Stranger, allowing the curiosity of the character to be preserved, “revealed only in director’s commentary.” stated Greensalty. Timothy Olyphant, who starred with Walton Goggins in Justified was also a highly popular take and quite fitting too, given his dapper appearance on the show and how he worked with Goggins previously.

Of course, the iconic Ron Perlman was also a solid choice among fans who loved the thought of him being involved in season 2, mostly due to what a great actor he is and also because he voiced the opening and closing narrations in the last five Fallout games to date.

Whether Fallout will indeed introduce the cryptic character in season two or not, there’s certainly a huge desire from fans, so hopefully, Bethesda reads Reddit to make this actually happen.
