The Last of Us fans have finally got a look at Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced as Ellie and Dina in some new sneaky photos taken of the pair on set as they get stuck into season two of the much-anticipated HBO series. The images show newcomer Merced and also Ramsey walking through what looks to be a forest while taking a break in between scenes.

As with most things on the internet, especially Twitter, folk can’t just be happy to see these two together at long last and are more caught up in how Ellie looks like she hasn’t aged from season one.

The Last of Us Season 2’s Isabela Merced teases that a certain scene will break everyone’s Twitter feed.

In the set images, we see Bella sporting a change in hairstyle as she dons Ellie’s pulled-back look from Part 2 and Merced with long hair which is different from Dina’s pony-style look she is seen wearing in the second game.

The issue that a lot of fans seem to have is that Ellie doesn’t look like she has aged from when we last saw her in season one. “I’m sorry, but Bella looks exactly the same as in season 1. We needed an older-looking actress for season 2. In the games, Ellie looks worlds apart.” expressed @alexv_343 in the image’s Twitter comments.

Another comment highlighted that “Both Ellie/Dina look way younger in these images than in the game” and “It just seems off now.” For those who might not be too familiar with Ellie’s age difference between the first season and the second, in The Last of Us, Ellie was 14 years old and in Part 2, she is 5 years older making her 19, leaving fans confused about why she still looks the same in the leaked photos.

Given that fans only have these images to reference for the time being, it’s understandable why they may be a little annoyed at such an important detail since several years have passed since Ellie’s 14-year-old, innocent self in season one, and, how she is meant to be a grown 19-year-old woman in season two but, it’s also important to remember that these aren’t the best images in the world, and it looks like she was in between makeup touch-ups too which would naturally make her look a lot older than the fresh-faced Ellie from before.

The Last of Us season two is currently in production and should air on HBO at some stage in 2025, but in the meantime, here’s hoping we can get a more in-depth trailer that shows off Ellie, Dina, and maybe Abby too, so that we can see just how far our post-apocalyptic survivor has come.
