Dreadwolf, Possible Launch This Year

There has been mounting excitement within the Dragon Age community as of late, as information continues to filter out about a possible 2024 launch of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.

This latest information comes courtesy of Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who spoke about Dreadwolf on the latest episode of his show, Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess.

“Will it be at the Summer Game Fest, or around that time? Yes, they’ve said that themselves over at EA,” Grubb began.

Dreadwolf will have to step it up after Baldur’s Gate 3 knocked it out of the park.

He went on to speak about the feeling regarding Dreadwolf over at BioWare, saying “Everyone seems really happy with that game, they’re pretty pleased with how it turned out and the plan is to launch that this calendar year.”

Grubb seems reasonably certain that Dreadwolf will be launching this calendar year, not just EA’s fiscal year as rumours have suggested.

Dragon Age Fans Are Eating Well

This is more good news for the bustling Dragon Age community which hasn’t received a new entry in the series since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will centre around the opposition to Solas, otherwise known as the ‘Dreadwolf’ Fen’Harel, as he seeks to destroy the world, and recreate it in the image of a perfect Elven world.

Dreadwolf’s protagonist will be a “new hero,” not the Warden or the Inquisitor. It was heavily implied by the December 2023 teaser that Antiva, Rivain and the Anderfels will feature in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. These are locations that haven’t yet featured in the series.

Dragon Age Inquisition Solas

There are a lot of unknowns with Dreadwolf, but given that Solas is the antagonist, the game likely takes place shortly after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition. This means we’ll likely see a lot of returning characters, which is sure to delight fans.

There isn’t much confirmed about the gameplay of Dreadwolf. There was a leak last year that showed a radically different, God of War-esque combat system. One thing that is certain is that character progression is going to be non-linear, per a BioWare community update early last year.

We’ll likely know more about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf as Summer Game Fest approaches.
