Vocations determine the weapons, skills, armor, and overall play style of a character in Dragon’s Dogma 2; here are all ten vocations, ranked.

The player can also decide the Vocation of their main Pawn, as they have about the same amount of customization as the Arisen minus a few Vocations. The Arisen can unlock and use any Vocation, letting players tackle any role they find to be the most fun and fitting for their playstyle. No matter what Vocation the Arisen chooses, every party needs a Fighter and Mage. A Fighter is necessary as they can tank large amounts of damage and draw in enemy attention to keep them off ranged and support characters.

A Mage has a few offensive spells but excels in supporting the party through defensive spells and their basic heal ability that can and should be used often. With these two roles covered, the other two Vocations of the party can focus purely on the damage. It’s best to have at least one more ranged and melee character to split the party evenly between melee and ranged fighting styles.

The Magick Archer is great in terms of DPS, but is an Arisen specific Vocation. The Sorcerer is also great for backline DPS and can be used on a Pawn for those wanting to fight up close. While the Warfarer is unlocked late in the game, every Arisen should use this Vocation and fill in wherever they want in the party.
