Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Left Easter Egg In The Ocean “Just In Case” Someone Drove In There

Cyberpunk 2077 developer has left an easter egg in the ocean with “dialog and stuff” for players to discover.

Highlights

  • Cyberpunk 2077’s success on Steam has soared to a positive 95% score, much to the disbelief of CD Projekt Red.
  • Quest Designer Maria Mazur hints at even more easter eggs waiting to be discovered in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
  • Mazur teases hidden secrets in The Witcher series as well, encouraging players to embark on another adventure.

After almost three and a half years since its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has gone from strength to strength. Initially not having the best start in life with its many in-game mechanical issues and graphics mishaps, the CD Projekt Red fictional metropolis title finally hit a very positive 95% score on Steam, where even its associate game director Paweł Sasko thanked players for their continued support.

Even though Cyberpunk 2077 plays host to many Easter eggs already that include nods to iconic movies and games, there seems to be even more yet for players to discover, according to its Quest Designer.

Cyberpunk 2077 has just surpassed a huge review milestone on Steam, and CD Projekt Red can’t quite believe it.

More Cyberpunk 2077 Easter Eggs? You Got It

Chatting with GamesRadar+ while at the Digital Dragons conference in Poland, quest designer Maria Mazur said that the Cyberpunk 2077 universe is so full of easter eggs that there are some that players haven’t even found yet. “I feel like there are so many easter eggs, I’m just waiting for people to find them all.” One in particular that Mazur mentions is an easter egg that is in the ocean which she designed as part of the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Already ten steps ahead, Mazur believed that a player would eventually dive into the ocean, and to prepare for that, they designed “a scenario with dialog” so that the player would find something that they may not have expected while in that situation. “Someone drove the main character into the ocean. And I actually had this secured just in case” said Mazur, “I weaved in a scenario with dialog and stuff. So I was happy to see that someone actually did that.”

“I think those moments are kind of precious. When you’re trying to anticipate someone’s actions, and you’re leaving this little surprise for someone, and then finally, years later, you can see that they actually found it.”

These unearthed easter eggs aren’t just in Cyberpunk 2077, as it seems like The Witcher too has plenty of its own. Mazur believes that there are “probably” a lot more still hidden secrets that players haven’t seen or at least pointed out among its fantasy world. So you know what that means, right? Another Witcher 3 playthrough, so get hunting!
