Clash Royale: Best Golden Knight Decks

As one of the few Legendary cards in Clash Royale, many players would love to have a strong deck built around Golden Knight to use his great agility and hit rate. Regarding the fact that you can only have one Legendary card in your deck, many players choose Golden Knight over the other options thanks to his economical Elixir usage.

What should you do with those Evolution Shards?

That being said, it might take you a lot of trial and error to finally discover your favorite Golden Knight deck, which is why we are presenting you with the top 5 decks that allow you to benefit from Golden Knight in the best possible ways.

Updated by Mehrdad Khayyat on April 19, 2024: Replaced three decks with new ones to meet with the recent meta changes in Clash Royale.

5 Royal Rush

A Pack Of Ranged Damage Dealers

Clash Royale Best Golden Knight Decks - Royal Rush

  • Royal Giant (Elixir 6) [Evolution Spot]
  • Golden Knight (Elixir 4)
  • The Log (Elixir 2)
  • Cannon (Elixir 3)
  • Fireball (Elixir 4)
  • Magic Archer (Elixir 4)
  • Minions (Elixir 3)
  • Hog Rider (Elixir 4)
  • Average Elixir Cost: 3.8

While not hard on defense, this deck will help you to lead a massive push using Royal Giant. Deploy your Magic Archer beforehand and let the Elixir bar fill, then drop Royal Giant just on the edge of the bridge and let the archer support him. Also, make sure to have The Log ready in hand to deploy it if any spam troops appear.

The good thing is you won’t need The Log for the second time that you repeat the same push, as Royal Giant’s Evolution will neutralize any other threat. But what about Golden Knight?

Well, that part comes with your second type of push. If you see your opponent is out-Elixired, there is no need to wait for Royal Giant to come into your hand again. Instead, you can lead a second push with Golden Knight and Hog Rider. You can also try your luck with a lonely Hog Rider and save Golden Knight for defense.

  • Having two tower-targeting units allows for back-to-back pushes
  • Not so strong in defense

4 Giant Bombardment

Distract With Skeleton Giant, Hit With Golden Knight

Clash Royale Best Golden Knight Decks - Bombardment

  • Firecracker (Elixir 3) [Evolution Spot]
  • Golden Knight (Elixir 4)
  • Skeleton Giant (Elixir 6)
  • Witch (Elixir 5)
  • Bomber (Elixir 2)
  • Archers (Elixir 3)
  • Zap (Elixir 2)
  • Dark Prince (Elixir 4)
  • Average Elixir Cost: 3.6

Skeleton Giant is one of the underestimated cards in Clash Royale that can give you a sheer advantage on the battlefield, but only if you know how to get him to the opponent’s crown tower.

Deploy your Witch behind King’s Tower and don’t be afraid of an upcoming Fireball. Now wait a few seconds and then deploy Skeleton Giant on the bridge, and try to support it with Bomber or Firecracker. This will likely force your opponent to deploy anything that prevents Skeleton Giant from reaching the crown tower.

Witch and Bomber should easily be able to deal with any ground or aerial spam, unless the opponent uses a structure such as Inferno Tower. That’s when you need to use Zap to delay the tower functionality. Now, no matter where Skeleton Giant dies, it will leave a bomb in place, and that’s when Golden Knight comes in.

Since the bomb is pretty destructive, your opponent cannot risk deploying anything next to it, which gives you a great opportunity to drop Golden Knight and activate his ability to rush for the crown tower.

  • Skeleton Giant serves as a massive distraction
  • Strong against Inferno Tower and Inferno Dragon

3 Icy Offense

Most Effective Deck Against Dagger Duchess

Clash Royale Best Golden Knight Decks - Icy Push

  • Firecracker (Elixir 3) [Evolution Spot]
  • Golden Knight (Elixir 4)
  • Flying Machine (Elixir 4)
  • Arrows (Elixir 3)
  • Ice Golem (Elixir 2)
  • Giant (Elixir 5)
  • Goblin Gang (Elixir 3)
  • Tesla Tower (Elixir 4)
  • Average Elixir Cost: 3.5

How about a combination of Ice Golem and Giant? This deck is quite effective against players that use Dagger Duchess as their Tower Troop. Deploy the Flying Machine at the back of the King’s Tower and give it some time, then deploy the Ice Golem at the edge of the bridge, and drop the Giant somewhere between the Ice Golem and Flying Machine.

This is a massive push, as Ice Golem will absorb all the damage. Once you have enough Elixir, drop Firecracker behind all the troops, and watch your crew crushing the opponent’s crown tower. In this case, you might face an Inferno Tower that could partially ruin the fun, but still, your crew will deal a significant amount of damage.

Now that Clash Royale players have Cannoneer as a new Tower Troop, everyone’s wondering if it is worth changing their tactics.

You can also try this push using Golden Knight instead of Flying Machine. This could get you even better results in case you face any kind of towers, as Golden Knight’s ability can get rid of that quickly.

As you will be out-Elixired after this push, it’s best to make Tesla Tower ready for deployment in the middle of the river. Goblin Gang is also a great distraction unit to buy some time.

  • Quite strong when facing Dagger Duchess
  • Vulnerable to Sparky

2 Firestarter

An Economic but Effective Support Crew For Golden Knight

CR 2

  • Firecracker (Elixir 3) [Evolution Spot]
  • Golden Knight (Elixir 4)
  • Musketeer (Elixir 4)
  • Bomber (Elixir 2)
  • Skeleton Army (Elixir 3)
  • Barbarian Barrel (Elixir 2)
  • Tesla Tower (Elixir 4)
  • Magic Archer (Elixir 4)
  • Average Elixir Cost: 3.3

This deck is mostly built around units with ranged attacks to provide the best possible support on Golden Knight’s push. Firecracker is amazing when it comes to playing the support role from a distance and so is Bomber for close-range threats.

In this deck, your main damage dealer is Golden Knight and you should be able to support him pretty well with a Musketeer next to him, a Firecracker behind him, and a Bomber in front of him. Tesla Tower, Barbarian Barrel, and Skeleton Army will serve as your defensive troops, while Magic Archer can work quite well both in attack and defense.

  • Great support units that can damage crown towers indirectly
  • The low average Elixir makes mistakes less punishing

1 The Elite Army

A Combination Of Best Melee And Ranged Crown Crushers

CR 1

  • Knight (Elixir 3) [Evolution Spot]
  • Golden Knight (Elixir 4)
  • Musketeer (Elixir 4)
  • Zap (Elixir 2)
  • Mortar (Elixir 4)
  • Elite Barbarians (Elixir 6)
  • Flying Machine (Elixir 4)
  • Miner (Elixir 3)
  • Average Elixir Cost: 3.8

The most ruthless deck built around Golden Knight is a force to be reckoned with, which is the result you get when the Golden Knight is accompanied by Elite Barbarians. This is quite a powerful duo in the Double Elixir phase, but it requires perfect timing when it comes to using Miner and Zap.

As you can notice, you don’t have any other option than Zap to eliminate the spamming units, which makes it a pretty important card. When you couple Elite Barbarians and Golden Knight, your Zap should be always ready to be used on your deck to remove any potential Skeleton Army or Bats deployment by the opponent. If it’s a smaller spam like Goblin Gang or Skeletons, you are advised to use Golden Knight’s ability rather than wasting Zap. Other than Zap, you also need to deploy your Miner next to the enemy’s crown tower before Elite Barbarians and Golden Knight get over the bridge. This way, Miner will distract the tower’s archer, giving the duo a better situation for a faster push. However, you need to provide support to them with the Flying Machine as soon as your Elixir charges up.

  • Pretty balanced in air and ground with both melee and ranged damage dealers
  • Requires perfect timing when deploying troops
